Experience
I started my career working with Children with autism and their families, helping with their learning difficulties, social skills and activities of daily living.
I went on to work in healthcare for over 10 years, both within the NHS and the private sector. Initially as a nurse in the Operating Theatres, I then moved to the wards where my role was to ensure the patient’s safe discharge.
Throughout my professional life, I have volunteered in various counselling charities such as the Samaritans, Mind, Crossroads Care and Dove, supporting people at a time when they feel at their most vulnerable.
My primary focus in Counselling has been in Bereavement / Loss, Self-esteem, Anxiety and Confidence issues.
My Approach
The first step towards seeking external support to help you deal with emotional issues is a difficult one to make. It takes courage to seek guidance and comfort around issues that are still too often belittled by society. If you are reading this, be proud that you are considering making this step.
I believe that the relationship between a therapist and their clients is key in achieving therapeutic change. I work with my clients towards building a trusting, non-judgemental and honest relationship.
I aim to empower you to talk freely and work through your issues, whether they are causing you anxiety, anger, heartache or distress, or you want to discuss feelings that you have never been able to explore before.
I am trained in integrative therapy, which means that I can use a number of skills and theories such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred and Transactional Analysis. I will work at your pace and adapt the therapy in a way that best suits your needs in order to help you achieve your goals.
I believe that counselling offers invaluable support if you are coming to terms with life changing experiences or you want to understand certain emotions with the help of someone who is both objective and has no hidden agenda.
As a Registered Member and practitioner of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by its ethical framework.
Your privacy and confidentiality are vital. Rest assured that it will always be protected.
I am fully insured.
